This requires loosening only those bolts marked with an arrow. Remove cylinder head cover. Don't turn engine in reverse direction of rotation. Unscrew M 8 bolts and cylinder head bolts in reverse sequence of tightening. Do not loosen the 5 cylinder head bolts positioned deeper arrows and the 2 M 8 bolts arrows.
Since July of the clearance on the camshaft housing for 22 mm dia. Use the former 20 mm dia. This requires first loosening the five cylinder head bolts 1, 4, 6, 7 and 9 located deeper separately somewhat. After tightening all bolts, it must be possible to turn both camshafts by hand. In such a case, machine OD of washer 2 down by approx. Also install pressure spring 05— Bolts M 8 for camshaft housing to cylinder head and crankcase.
Camshaft housing may only be removed after engine is cold. If you've ever had the timing chain cover removed, you've seen several structural support "pegs" on the backside of the cover which are part of the cast aluminum piece. When I re-installed the cover, one of the "pegs" got between the chain and the crankgear. It all went back together smooth and the timing chain was also smooth as I rotated it. However, the end result was that the timing chain was several inches shorter when I was trying to put the chain over the camgear.
I had to remove the timing chain cover again to discover what I had done wrong. If anyone wants pictures of the "pegs", back of the timing cover, or the front end of the engine with the timing cover off I'd be happy to post a picture. BB code is On. Smilies are On.
